Bionic Golf Gloves – The Silver Series – Product Review

Playing a round of golf puts a lot of pressure on your body, especially your hands. If you suffer from any chronic pain in your hands or fingers you may find that Bionic’s Silver Series Golf Gloves are a good choice. Recently we asked one of our readers who has arthritis in her hands, to wear a pair of the gloves and give us a review of the product. In this post, our volunteer golfer, N.B. gave her honest feedback after wearing the gloves for several rounds.

. . . . .

Bionic Golf Gloves Silver SeriesQ. You agreed to test out a pair of the Bionic Silver Series Golf Gloves. Did the product arrive in good shape? What were your first impressions?

N.B. The gloves came in good shape but the ball marker that was promised on the envelope had fallen out of the spot where it was supposed to be. Although they were the correct size they did not fit properly at first. There were three problem areas:

  • The fingers were very tight. Especially on my right hand (which is the hand in which I have the most pain when I golf.)
  • The seams where the extra padding was stitched got caught in my nails as I tried to put my fingers in the glove.
  • After about 3 rounds of golf, the glove stretched out to fit much better on my right hand.  Although it was still not an easy slip-on glove – there was some effort to getting them on and off.

Q. Did you like the styling and color of the gloves?
N.B.
I did like the style and the look of the glove. The color was pretty neutral – it was fine.

Q. How many rounds of golf did you play using the gloves?
N.B. I played 4 rounds of golf with the gloves – although the first 2 rounds I had to remove them after 9 holes because they were so tight they were uncomfortable.

Q. How did the gloves perform on the golf course? Do you think you had a better feel on your club because of the gloves.
N.B. I actually had less feel on my club. They felt more like winter gloves.

Q. Did the gloves stretch at all or feel tight especially in the fingers? Were they flexible enough?
N.B. The gloves did stretch which was a good thing because they were very tight in the beginning. The gloves became flexible enough once they stretched a bit.

Q. Were you aware of the gloves while playing, or did they become so comfortable that you simply forgot about them?
N.B. I was aware of the gloves while I was playing but they did become comfortable.

Q. Did the gloves wear well?
N.B. Yes, so far. But I did not wear the left glove (which is my golf glove side) for most of my rounds. I only wore the right hand glove because that is where I have pain in my hand when I play golf and the glove did help the pain.  Since I didn’t use the left glove a lot, I can’t comment on how well the pair would wear compared to a standard glove.

Q. Did you wash the gloves at all?
N.B. I did not wash the gloves.

Q. Would you buy these gloves for yourself now that you have tried them?
N.B. I wouldn’t buy a pair of them – only a right hand glove – because that is the hand I need to have the extra padding.

Q. Would you recommend these gloves to other women golfers?
N.B. I can’t say that I would recommend them at this point.

Q. The pair of gloves retails for: $49.95 – do you think the price is right?
N.B.
I am not sure why the gloves come in pairs. I would consider buying one glove for the hand that I need it for, but I would not buy a pair of them. Bionics might consider selling them individually with a discount for a left/right set. I would not pay to buy the pair at that price.

Q. Any other comments you want to add?
N.B.
The material used for the glove does not have much breathing capacity.  I wore them on a warm day and my hands did get quite warm. I use a GPS system on my smart phone with a touch screen and I could not use it with the gloves on, which is why I finally switched to a standard glove on my left hand. That way I could use my GPS and wear the Bionic’s glove on my right hand.  If I had needed the pair I would probably have cut the top off one of the index fingers so I could use my touch screen during the round. It was tough to get these gloves off and on due to their snug fit.  Since I prefer to putt without gloves – that would be a negative.

Summary: The Bionic Silver Series Golf Gloves gets a mixed review. Although tight when first used, they did stretch out after a couple of rounds of golf and were comfortable to wear. They did help reduce pain in our volunteer’s hands when she played golf. However, because she uses a GPS on the course and takes her gloves off when putting, the snug fit of the gloves became more of an inconvenience. But if you like a snug fitting glove that reduces pain in your hands, the Silver Series pair may be your best choice.

We give the Bionic Silver Series three and a half tees.

I have a crhonic pain in my fingers from an old injury and always have pain when playing golf but I love the games, so I just put up with the pain. These gloves sound like they might be good for me. I will look for them at the clubhouse or maybe online. Thanks for the review.

I bought these gloves a few months ago. They work great in the cooler months but are too heavy for me to wear in hot weather. I agree with the reviewer, they run small but do stretch and fit well once you break them in. I have pain in both hands so I would always need to buy a pair of them. But I can see how it might be good to have right and left gloves sold separately for golfers who don’t need both.
