Golf Tip: How To Control Your Chipping Distance

You may not have the longest drive in your league, but if you can master the short game, you have a very good chance of lowering your golf score and your handicap. One of the trickiest shots in golf is the chip. From just off the green to the flag the distance may be short, but the challenge is long!

I’ve learned a couple of methods for chipping, but the one illustrated in this short video with Derek Hooper is simple to understand and quick to learn. With practice, you can chip it close, no matter how far the pin is from your ball. As you watch this video, pay close attention to Derek’s stance and ball position. He uses a very simple stroke, almost a putting stroke and his hands are calm during the swing.

Watch the video, and then leave a comment below. Is this the way you learned to chip? Have you ever tried the multiple club chipping method? What do you think?

I started using a 9 iron for chipping as opposed to the PW (similar to what this pro suggested) and it greatly improved my distance control when chipping! Great advice!
