The Solheim Cup is only a few days away. And the fashions for Team U.S. and Team Europe are here!
I purchased a cap for the Solheim Cup a few weeks ago. It wasn’t easy finding anything for the U.S. team… Europe had all their merchandise available long ago. But I was able to search out a site that offered a few selections for the caps, and snagged a couple. My friend Noreen and I wore them when our Irish friends were visiting… they had the full Solheim Team Europe outfits! But our caps were still enough to distinguish us on the golf course!
So what are the U.S. Team wearing? Sunice is supplying the Solheim Cup outwear. Here’s the blurb from “The Wire” that gives the basics. It’s all about designing an attractive uniform that keeps the players warm and dry! Remember Ireland is known for its changeable and often wet weather!
The players will wear as part of their exclusive uniform multiple Sunice garments manufactured using only Gore-Tex® fabrics to ensure they are provided ultimate performance and protection from the elements. In honor of the Solheim Cup captain Sunice has named their ladies Ultimate jacket, “the Rosie.” As leader of the U.S. Solheim Cup team and a champion in her own right, Rosie was exactly who they were looking for in naming the jacket.
“As we get closer to the Solheim Cup, the anticipation is mounting as we anxiously await the appearance of Team USA in their custom-designed Sunice outerwear suits,” said Mark Fletcher, President of Sunice. “The design and development process that involved our top product people working in conjunction with Rosie Jones and her assistants was a fun experience and we worked well together as a team.”
“Everyone involved had the same objective; design a great looking rainsuit that would guarantee that the players remain dry and make them look good,” added Heidi Rowsell, Director of Marketing. “We are confident that they will be the stand-out team and we wish them success. By wearing Sunice outerwear we are at least certain that if faced with adverse weather conditions, they can remain focused on the task at hand and not have to worry about staying, warm, dry and comfortable.”
Sunice is a great company with a great reputation and I’m sure the uniforms will work as promised. Only one little glitch, and am I being fussy here? Sunice is a Canadian company! You’d think there would be a U.S. company that could have been considered. Is this a case of sour grapes?
As for the outwear? I really like the look of the outfit… at least from the front. The back? I’m not so sure… I think it looks a little like they are wearing bibs… perhaps they’ll be putting numbers on the empty white space?
What do you think?
