It’s the old bugaboo, topping the ball. You swing and miss solid contact. Instead, the club just nicks the top of the ball and sends it careening low along the fairway. Looks a bit like you are bowling instead of playing golf!
The Cause: Coming “over the top.” Bob Lowry uses a PVC pipe to exaggerate the move so you can see what you might be doing wrong that causes you to top the ball. Seeing and understanding is the first step to the cure. Try this exercise at home or at the range. Do it a few times a day and you will surely see improvement.
