Imagine playing unlimited golf in one of the most singularly beautiful places on earth, the Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay.
Situated on three of the sunniest coastlines, as well as upcountry, Four Seasons Resorts Hawaii offers championship golf, idyllic beach locations and a unique inland retreat to enjoy the sunny, warm Hawaiian weather. Explore an ocean-side paradise on this untouched island playground.
About the golf courses: There are two championship golf courses on the island:
The Challenge at Manele – High above the crashing surf of Hulopo’e Bay, The Challenge at Manele is an outstanding course that more than lives up to its name. Built on lava outcroppings, the course features three holes on cliffs, which use the Pacific Ocean as a water hazard. The five-tee concept challenges the best golfers – tee shots over natural gorges and ravines must be precise. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this dramatic, unspoiled natural terrain is a stunning backdrop, and every hole offers majestic ocean views. The winter months bring spectacular sightings of whales right from the fairways.
The Experience at Koele – Chiseled from the mountains, the front nine holes of the Experience at Koele run through old pineapple fields and deep valley gorges laced with kiawe trees and rare, regal koa. The back nine wind past pine cathedrals and thickets of eucalyptus, with untrammeled views of neighboring Maui and Molokai rising from the sea, and deliver a staggering finish: a 250-foot drop from the signature seventeenth hole to the deepest ravine on Lana’i.
In designing the 7,014-yard, par 72 championship course, Greg Norman and Ted Robinson sought to conserve as many native plants as possible while creating a battlefield worthy of golf aficionados. As legions of discerning golfers have discovered, playing a round at the Experience at Koele ensures you will take home bragging rights, regardless of your score.
About Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay – An unspoiled paradise of spectacular seacoast and enchanting highland forest, the Hawaiian island of Lana‘i provides a sense of privacy and space that is rare in today’s world. (When he was looking for luxury as well as privacy, Bill Gates chose The Four Seasons at Lana’i as the location for his own wedding. It’s also been the chosen location for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills TV show epsisode recently shot on the island.) Embraced by warm Four Seasons service and the welcoming aloha spirit of the islands, Four Seasons Resort Lana‘i at Manele Bay is set above a crescent beach and a protected marine preserve, and offers tranquil relaxation complemented by a wealth of recreational pursuits.
There is no shortage of activities available to guests of the Four SeasonsResort Lana’i at Manele Bay. Whether you crave a day at the beach or a real adventure, the Resort offers a range of land activities – from mountain biking to horseback riding – and all kinds of water adventures, including scuba diving and sailing.
The waters of Hulopo‘e Bay are a protected marine preserve. The bay’s exceptionally clear waters and beautiful, virtually undisturbed coral reefs offer pristine spots for snorkelling and diving – some of the best in Hawaii. Spinner dolphins and colourful reef fish are frequently seen close to the shoreline, and humpback whales often make an appearance during the winter months.
An “island-hop” experience of mountain and sea (mauka to makai) offers an idyllic retreat from the everyday that beckons adventure, romance and relaxation. Exploring this untouched island playground, where a turquoise bay meets the lush, verdant upcountry, has never been easier.
