Eastwood Golf Course

We discovered another golf gem in Fort Myers and it is a public course! Eastwood Golf Course, a Bob Von Hagge & Bruce Devlin design is challenging but very fair. Take a risk and you will be rewarded. Most holes have water and the fairways are fairly narrow, but the hazards are not impossible to get out of without a penalty. (I discovered that a number of times.) From the forward tees most greens are reachable in regulation. But you do have to be aware of the water that snakes between fairway and green in a couple of places.

Eastwood Golf Course Fort MyersThe course was built in 1977 and trees and grasses are fully grown. There are a couple of spots where a condo hi-rise lines the right side of the course, but on most holes you have the feeling of playing a private course without the looming presence of one course-side dwelling after the other. (When we played at Royal Tees Golf Course, residents were hanging on to the edge of their pools, watching every shot we took. It was unnerving.)

Best of all, the price is right for this gem. If you hold off playing until 2 in the afternoon you get a full 18 holes plus cart for just under $50! You do have to contend with the heat of mid-day, but with a little planning, a hat, lots of water and sunscreen, Eastwood Golf Course is one you should definitely book!
