The Club At North Hampton: A Challenging Golf Course

The Club at North Hampton

“The Golf Club at North Hampton is the 7th Best Course you can Play in Florida.” – Golf Week

Today the “Golfing Gals” of our Tee Club, played the Arnold Palmer designed golf course at North Hampton. It’s a long course, with water hazards, acres of nasty fescue on all sides and all the undulating fairways and greens you can imagine the famous golfer would enjoy playing on such a great course.

But fescue, and water aside, this was a lot of fun for everyone in the group. The long ball hitters had to back off and play smart to avoid the worst of the hazards, while the short ball hitters who managed to stay on the beautiful fairways and out of the rough stuff made pars and birdies. Every hole required focus and a strategic plan. Luckily each golf cart had a sophisticated GPS system to guide us throughout the course.

Golfers at The Club at North HamptonMost of the women want to play the course again. “Now that I know the course and what to expect, I really want to play this course again,” declared one of the golfers. Others agreed. From the beautiful club house to the friendly staff, it was a pleasure to play this course.

Here’s a short course description from the club’s website:

Located in Fernandina Beach, Florida, The Golf Club at North Hampton is a signature course of golf legend Arnold Palmer and renowned course architect Ed Seay. The Golf Club at North Hampton is carved into the natural surroundings and framed by spring-fed lakes lined with coquina boulders and the wild grass and rolling dunes capture the feel of a Scottish links-style course.

Ornamented with bridges and man-made dunes, the rolling, high elevation course offers a perfect combination of the area’s natural beauty and the best of golf course architecture. All of these unique design features, coupled with the crowned fairways and fine sugar sand and coquina shell bunkers help to make North Hampton one of Florida’s most interesting and original courses.
