U.S. Women’s Open – July 9 – Let the Games Begin

Final practice rounds for the participants in this year’s U.S. Women’s Open end today, Wednesday, July 8 at Saucon Valley Country Club. The old course will host the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament beginning first thing tomorrow. First Round – ESPN will have coverage from 2 – 6 p.m.

Click here for a look at the course at Saucon Valley. Water is going to play a major role in this year’s U.S.Women’s Open. Saucon Creek runs throughout the course. Eight of the eighteen holes has water coming into play, either crossing or lateral. On the third hole water will definitely have a major impact on a player’s strategy.

The official website has animations which explain the choices a player may make when dealing with a water hazard.

It should be an exciting first day. Still too soon to pick favorites. We will keep you posted.
