The Ladies Of Scotland Play Golf In The Cold

In a recent post I wrote about how to keep yourself warm and toasty on the golf course with Mobile Warming Vests and Jackets. That post inspired a reader in Scotland to send photos and stories from her ladies league at Muckart Golf Club, Drumburn Road, Muckhart, Scotland. They are indeed a hearty bunch!

Linda Christie - ScotlandLinda Christie, who took these photos, writes: “Sadly our course has been closed frequently because of floods and snow over the winter  BUT…… the least hint of an opportunity……and the Ladies of Muckhart are out there!  We surely know how to dress for all weathers! Thought you might be interested in seeing a few recent pics out on our courses.”

    That’s centigrade!!
Plenty thermals, hats and big woolly socks!
Last time I looked, a thermal vest – one that’s long enough to cover your bahookie (bum) a long sleeved polo neck, a jumper and a fleece or gillet, thick trousers and a good pair of thermal walking socks! Difficult to swing really well – but possible!!
Roll on summer – although last year that was a washout!!
We’re a hardy lot in Scotland! Best wishes

Wow!!! 38 and 45 degrees in winter!!! In Scotland it can be hardly that in the summer!
Winter golfing this year – teeing off at 3 degrees if you’re lucky!! Soaring to 8 degrees mid-day!

3 degrees!!!! Soaring to 8???? Yikes! Is that centigrade? or fahrenheit??? not that it makes too much of a difference. Cold is Cold wherever it blows. How many layers do you put on?

I live in the southern California desert, and when we tee it up in the morning (after the frost delay) in winter, it’s COLD!! It’s about 38 degrees in December and January. February is a little better, maybe 45 degrees, because the sun is up. I can do it because I know that in a few holes it will be warmer. Warm being a relative term. In summer, we get to play in 110+ degree temps.
