Golf Swing and Tempo are such an elusive idea… and so unique to each golfer. Every player has to find their own unique tempo. Fast, slow, in-between… if you hum you way through your golf swing, are you humming a waltz or the cha-cha-cha? It doesn’t really matter, as long as it works for you. The following three articles are by three different golfers, each with their own take on the subject of finding your own swing tempo and rhythm.

Improve Your Golf Swing Fast – Take 5 Shots Off of Your Scores by This Weekend!

Guest Author: Jeremy Porterland

Often times golfers struggle to find true consistency. No matter your current skill level, I am sure that there have been times when you wanted to chunk your clubs in the lake (maybe you actually have). In this article I want to share with you a few tips that will improve your golf swing fast, so that you can go out this weekend and shoot a great round of golf!

The first thing that you must do is not think too much about mechanics on the course. The golf course is for hitting shots, not correcting your golf swing. Make sure that you get to the course in time to go to the driving range, hit a bucket of balls, and find find one swing thought for the day. All you need is one swing thought; anything more will cause confusion and increase muscle tension.

Secondly, you have to make sure that you are swinging in tempo. If your swing tempo is out of whack, then chances are your golf scores are going to skyrocket. One thing I do when practicing is envision a golfer who has a really fluid swing, such as Ernie Els, Davis Love, or Fred Couples. Just relax, and try to swing like one of these guys!

Last but not least, make sure that you do not start your downswing with your hands or shoulders. Most average golfers do this, and it causes the dreaded slice or a smothered hook. If you really want to hit the ball consistently this weekend, start your downswing by rotating your front hip toward the target. This will bring your hands down in a powerful position, and allow you to hit long and accurate shots!

Do you want to add 25 yards to your drives and take 10 strokes off of your scores in just a matter of days? You have to visit http://swing-a-golf-club.blogspot.com to find out exactly how to do it!

Understanding the Golf Swing Tempo

Guest Author: Nathan Blake

The golf swing tempo is certainly one of the most difficult aspects of golf. There is no written standard about it and it differs per golf player. One thing striking about the golf swing tempo is that various individuals have different views about it.

Let us take a closer look on how this bleak aspect of golf should be addressed. Basically, the golf swing tempo is the timing between the backswing and the swing. This is the short pause wherein you take your time to allocate the force needed to hit the golf ball. That short pause is a very decisive moment because this is where the success of the swing depends. Of course, in every situation in golf, time is a factor that should never be underestimated.

Another thing that you may ask then is how fast should every swing be? This is the where contention about golf swing tempo comes into play. Every golf player has a different swing speed. If you were to observe two golf players, you would certainly notice that they employ different timing behind each swing. This is because they use different counting measures that would tell them when to strike. One of them is perhaps using his mind for counting while the other is using an external counting device such as a metronome.

The golf swing tempo should not be contained within the parameters of exact counting. As mentioned earlier, time is a factor that greatly helps a golf player when to strike. However, there are methods in which you can improve your timing so that you not get confused. Here are two:

Downloadable golf metronome to mobile devices such as an iPhone. There are plenty of phone applications available on the internet that would greatly get your golfing skills in shape. This is not to replace your golfing instincts but rather to polish them.

Upbeat music. You can even use lively music to polish your golf swing tempo. You can use the beat that the music has and find your timing to hit the golf ball. You can do this during your practice sessions.

These two things are highly recommended if you are going to use external counting measures during practice sessions. This way, you would be able to clearly gauge your timing and the force needed on your swing. You have all the time in the world and do not rush your swings or else it would turn out badly. Golf swing tempo is a significant element in playing golf so be sure to practice it more.

Set A Good Tempo For A Perfect Golf Swing

Guest Author: Anthony Lee

Tempo must be the overanalyzed aspect of a golf swing. Why? It is because the concept of tempo is not constant. In reality, there is not one perfect tempo to follow. As you can observe, all the greatest golf players in the world have different tempos, but they are equally successful.

But to effectively set a good tempo for a perfect golf swing, here are tips that you can follow:

1. Practice with your clubs. The best clubs to use when improving tempo are the 7, 8, and 9 clubs. But you can move through your bag and do the same swing with all your irons and clubs. Do it repeatedly until after you have the ability to embrace a constant swing tempo.

2. Be wary of the proper timing. Tempo is nothing but a combination of sound mechanics and the right timing. It is produced with both the arms and the body functioning together to generate the greatest club head speed.

3. Tempo is a mind game. Your tempo should be highly rhythmic. Before you start a game of golf, condition your mind. As your game progresses, always put your tempo on check. More often than not, it is your disposition that influences your tempo or the speed of your club. And to excel in golf, it is a must that you maintain a consistency throughout the game.

4. Coordinate your movement. Good hand and body coordination is the key. To achieve this, allow your shoulders and your arms to execute the swing in a harmonized movement. Then transfer your weight from the rear foot to the forward foot. Do this regularly and you’ll get both tempo and balance at the same time.

5. Position the ball properly. Put the ball just within the left heel. Your head, hands, and weight should all be behind the ball. Proper ball positioning will ensure that you’ll have solid contact all the time.

With all of these said, you should now be ready to establish your very own tempo. You’ll see that this can be the very aspect tempo to hold both your swing and your game together.
