Great Golf Fitness Tips with experts Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, co-founders of the Titleist Performance Institute.

Golfers can learn to train like a Tour professional as Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist returns to the Golf Channel for its sixth season with a 10-show series helping golfers maximize performance through fitness.  Episodes will begin airing on Monday April 19, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. EDT., immediately following Golf Central presented by Titleist, and preceding The Golf Fix, hosted by Titleist Advisory Staff Member Michael Breed.

Hosts Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, cofounders of the Titleist Performance Institute, offer useful tips that directly relate to producing a better all-around golf game.  Weekly performance segments include:

Week 1: one of America’s top strength and conditioning coaches, Todd Durkin, who trains seven NFL quarterbacks, including Super Bowl champion and Most Valuable Player, Drew Brees, demonstrates how the techniques he uses for football’s best quarterbacks and can be applied to golf.

Week 2: New Technologies – Focuses on new technologies that are making an impact in the golf fitness world, including diagnostic ultrasound, 3D motion capture feedback systems, Hammer Strength’s Training Vest and more.

Week 3: Screen Your Game – Dave and Greg will demonstrate how to quickly assess your body for any physical limitations that may be limiting your game.

Week 4: Golf legend Tom Kite highlights his workout routine and demonstrates simple techniques to get your game in shape.

Week 5: Dynamic Posture – Dave and Greg will show viewers how to train to maintain a good dynamic posture. Key areas that are addressed include the thoracic spine, hips, and core muscles.

Week 6: Wrist Release – Key areas to build a perfectly release are addressed, including screening the wrists for problems, wrist mobility, forearm strength and grip strength.

Week 7: LPGA Tour Player In-Kyung Kim and her trainer Sean Cochran highlight IK’s training program.

Week 8: Body Alignment – TPI’s head athletic trainer Lance Gill shows how poor body alignment can lead to poor ball striking and more missed putts. Key areas addressed include pelvic alignment, shoulder alignment, and single leg balance.

Week 9: Weight Shift – Dave and Greg show viewers how to train improve weight shift in the golf swing, with focus being on the ankles, hips, oblique abdominals and glutes.

Week 10: Speed – Dave and Greg are joined by two experts in developing speed – Milo Bryant (Head of TPI’s Junior Performance Center) and David Donatucci (Director of Fitness for the PGA of America), who demonstrate how to develop speed in the gym through cross training activities, Olympic lifting and medicine ball drills.

The Hosts
Dr. Greg Rose
is a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic who also holds a degree in Engineering, helped pioneer the field of analyzing computerized 3-D motion and how the body works during the golf swing.  He specializes in strength and conditioning, manual therapy, rehabilitation, nutritional supplementation and therapeutic exercises as they relate to golf, and has worked with more than 500 professional and 3,000 amateur golfers to help them reach their peak performance.

Dave Phillips is a PGA Professional and consistently listed among GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers.  Considered to be one of the world’s premier instructors, Dave applies his expertise in computerized swing analysis and biomechanics to create a clear picture of what happens during the golf swing.  Born in England and raised in Africa and Australia, Dave has had the unique experience of playing with and instructing some of the game’s greatest golfers worldwide.
